The Ohio Asthma Coalition will meet at 10am, June 6, 2008, for its regular quarterly meeting. The Education Committee will host the meeting and present two topics relevant to home visits for asthma. This theme relates to the committee's goal of producing a home asthma education/environmental intervention module to be used throughout the state.
The speakers will be Phillip Bouton, Columbus Public Health, who will discuss the home visits for asthma that the Healthy Homes Program he leads has been doing for a number of years. Belinda Huffman, Chair of both the coalition and the Education Committee will present tobacco counseling, effective methods and incorporating systematic tobacco counseling into practice.
Committee reports, lunch and committee meetings will follow.
Registration will be done through the American Lung Association.

Ohio Asthma Education/Research Conference

The Ohio Asthma Coalition is pleased to announce the Ohio Asthma Education/Research Conference, presented in collaboration with the Ohio State University Asthma Center and the American Lung Association of Ohio.
The conference will feature Dr. William J. Martin, II, Associate Director, National Institute of Environmental Health Science, and Director, Office of Translational Research. Previously Dean, University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine and a pulmonologist, Dr. Martin will address asthma issues from his perspective in his current role.
Also featured on the agenda will be speakers discussing educational topics in asthma in the morning and research topics in the afternoon.
